I am frequently asked where I order photo prints. Here’s a brief overview.
POSTER JACK
They offer a wide range of products. I have ordered fine art prints there and was satisfied with them but my personal favourite is the alu dibond print, giving my b/w photos a nice subtile metallic shine.
APPLE APERTURE/IPHOTO
Aperture and iPhoto have a built in photo book functionality. While the books aren’t cheap, they deliver great quality and are easy to create with a lot of different themes and templates to choose from. Since iPhoto and Aperture are discontinued and will be replaced by a new cloud based service, it remains to be seen if this service will make the jump.
QUEENSBERRY
Queensberry is a high end photo book producer and sure, the quality comes at a high price, but sometimes special moments like weddings deserve outstanding quality. They also offer silver halide, fine art and other print products.
SNAPFISH
For casual photo prints I am using Snapfish. Their quality is good, they’re cheap and fast.
Pro-Tip:
As a rule of thumb, be careful with ordering at the cheapest company you can find. If you can, try order something small first or try finding some reviews on the producer. I have seen books and alu dibond prints which were significantly cheaper but came in such poor quality, no one would want these for free. It’s better to spend a bit more and you know you’ll get good quality and something you’ll be happy with for a long time.
