HelsinkiNYC Teaser

In 2013 I created a teaser promo video entirely from iStock footage for a start-up company named HelsinkiNYC. Still proud of the result, considering the limited resources and time.

Happy Socks Athletic

Earlier this year I was taking a few shots for Happy Socks‘ Instagram channel as they were introducing their brand new Athletic Socks line

How to Shoot Better Photos

Every decent photographer will hear this at some point: “Oh, these photos look really nice! What camera are you using?”. Imagine someone asking Michelangelo what kind of chisel he was using for creating “David”. No doubt, it’s important to have the right tools, to know how to use them and certainly not all tools have the same quality, but the camera is just one part of it. So what’s the secret ingredient to an above average photo then?

New Set: Colleagues

Over the last two weeks I have been shooting portraits of colleagues and friends at work. Next week will be my last day before moving on to another company after New Year and therefore it was a great pleasure to take photos of the people I have had around me almost every day for the last four years. The set features a selection of portraits.

New Set: Rosi

I am very proud to announce the release of the latest set “Rosi” featuring my beautiful friend Roswitha Haiden. The high contrast black and white single portrait shots were taken in a backlit setting using my recently acquired Broncolor equipment. Looking at the results, it was the best investment since I started with photography. View Set “Rosi” in Portfolio

Cleaning the Sensor Resulting in New Equipment

I had a bad feeling before doing it but it had become inevitable. There was more dust on my Canon 5D’s sensor than under the bed and it needed cleaning. And indeed it was a bad start into last week when somehow some of the cleaning liquid was leaking into the sensor – right in the center – leading to a nice visible colored stain in the photos. I had wanted to upgrade to a 6D in a long time anyway, but it seemed to be a bad time as just a few days ago it was announced that Canon had …

A Farewell to Aperture And Now What?

I have to say it. I am mad. Really mad! But to make things even worse, I don’t know who to be more mad at: Apple for shutting down Aperture or Adobe for Lightroom. A rant about change.

Stockholm

Pretty exactly four years ago I moved to Stockholm and I don’t think I enjoyed taking photos more in any other city than this one. The people, their culture and traditions, the different landscapes, the distinct seasons and not to forget to mention the long lasting twilight and “golden hour”, for me makes it one of the most interesting places as a photographer. Light! More Light!

For years I’ve been looking for a set of flash lights but like most other amateur photographers, I have always struggled with justifying the expense. Also, second hand gear is in high demand as it’s rare and therefore quickly adds up to a nice amount too, putting the piggy bank in massive danger. This week, I finally found a set of three old Broncolor Minipuls 80 flash lights including accessories and three Manfrotto stands for an almost insanely low price – what a lucky catch!
